Corkscrew Noodle: 7 Creative Strategies

Corkscrew Noodle - Graphic Design 235

The following is art I created for my online Graphic Design class at BYU-I. For this project we studied seven different principles in highlighting an object. I chose a corkscrew noodle because they have a cool and interesting shape. I hope these pictures inspire you to create some cool art.
1. Isolation
" Last Bite"
A single noodle alone on the fork, pastally the last bite of some really yummy pasta.

2. Juxtaposition
"Unexpected Surprise"
Probably the last thing anyone expects to see is a nice crunchy noodle instead of a ripe banana. This design is in my top three favorites of them all.
3. Combination
"Droodle"
A drill and its noodle bit finally united and combined as one. I was shocked at how well this worked out.
4. Metaphor or Simile
"Skewered"
The design of the noodle tooth on this narwhal's head is remarkably like its original tooth. Although a whole lot more brittle, I like to think that it would function much the same while also doubling as a snack.
5. Change of Environment
"Pasta Party"
A noodle isn't something you'd regularly use as a candle, but I think it could be a great alternative as it won't drip wax all over your desert.
6.  Similar Shape
"Slick Slide"
It's slick and slippery like a wet noodle, but still a lode of fun. I really like this design, because it reminds me of when I used to play on the playground, and a slide much like this one. This slide however is not made of metal, and won't be burning your skin in the summer heat. I really love the concept of this design its definitely in the top three.

7. Material Swap
"Strong Pasta"
A jar of rope while extra fibrous would not be a great substitute in your favorite pasta recipe. Although you can't really tell the twisted rope and corkscrew noodle are surprisingly similar in both shape and color. This design is probably my favorite though originally I was going to have a rock climber with a noodle rope, but then I saw this beautiful jar full of noodles and the rest is history.
